Animas, New Mexico

My husband has been working toward establishing a remotely operated telescope at Rancho Hidalgo in New Mexico which we hope to one day lease out on a nightly basis for anyone who is interested in trying out astrophotography.  It’s not quite operational yet, but on a visit to check on its progress, I had the opportunity to explore some of New Mexico’s desert terrain.  It is quite beautiful and very isolated where we were (that’s best for clear and dark night skies!).

One of my favorite pictures was this one one taken of some rusty wagon wheels.  At one point in history, this area was a small mining community, so strewn about are old rusty parts left from the bygone era.
